Los Angeles won't be the largest U.S. city without a professional football team for much longer, as a group of investors that includes Kiss bassist Gene Simmons is bringing a pro team back to the city next year.
The team, which will be called the "L.A. Kiss" will compete in the Arena Football League (AFL), five years after the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers ceased operations in 2009.
"We'll be bringing bombast and bang-for-the-buck to football," Simmons told "Squawk on the Street" Tuesday. "We're going to be taking Arena football to the next level."
"We're going to take it to heights it's never been before," he said. "L.A. Kiss doesn't just sound cool, it is cool. … It's in-your-face football. … It will have more fire power than most Third World countries."
Simmons also said that Kiss will hold a free concert for season ticketholders.
