What Female Entrepreneurs Want Young Women to Know

Speakers from Vanity Fair’s inaugural Founders Fair conference offer their advice.

“Pursue your passion.” “Keep going.” “Don’t take ‘no’ for an answer.”

These were just some of the answers from the speakers at Vanity Fair’s inaugural Founders Fair when asked to send a message to young women and girls around the world.

“Prepare to be underestimated, and then show up and kill ‘em with competence,” said Cindy Whitehead, founder and C.E.O. of the Pink Ceiling.

Carmen Perez, co-chair of the Women’s March on Washington, added, “You are loved. You are necessary. You are powerful. And always remember that.”

Founders Fair, an event designed to celebrate female business leaders and entrepreneurs, took place on April 20 at the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, and featured panels with Reese Witherspoon, Tory Burch, the organizers of the Women’s March on Washington, and theSkimm founders Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin, among others.
