No More Chatting: Google Talk Suffers Outage, Errors

Google Talk was hushed up Thursday morning.

Many users could not log into Google's instant messaging service and were experiencing errors messages once they could log in.

Google reported that the problem on its Apps Status Dashboard at 6:40 a.m. EDT.

The search giant issued an update 10 minutes later saying: "We're aware of a problem with Google Talk affecting a majority of users. The affected users are able to access Google Talk, but are seeing error messages and/or other unexpected behavior."

Three hours later, the company said it was still investigating.

In a statement later to CNBC, Google said: "We're aware of a problem with Google Talk, and are doing our best to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We are posting regular updates on our Google Apps dashboard."

By almost 11:00 A.M. ET the chat service was restored for some users, and the company said it expected all users to be back up and running soon.
